Strong magnitude-7.1 earthquake had shaken New Zealand’s North Island this morning, which also triggered a small tsunami but not causing any major damage or injuries.
In the year 1995 also North Island of New Zealand was shaken from high magnitude earthquake. Scientists are investigating the possibility that the seismic event may have been two earthquakes.
Scientists said that the complexity made it hard to estimate how deep the quake was, and to identify whether there was any tsunami risk.
Apart from this, concerns have also been raised about the time taken to issue a tsunami warning after the quake – reported as a magnitude 7.1, which struck at 4.38am about 125 kilometres from land and
was felt as far as Christchurch in the South Island.
Well, earthquake has already shaken the New Zealand and now warning has been also issued against tsunami.
