Telangana government in dilemma over the shifting of the offices
The Telangana government is in a dilemma over the shifting of the offices of their various departments from the Secretariat complex to other buildings, and this has happened in the wake of Tuesday’s HC order not to demolish the buildings in the Secretariat until further orders.
Though the court has not stayed the shifting of the offices from the Secretariat to other locations, the Telangana government has also further learnt to have decided that they would take some more time before taking any concrete step in this direction.
This has somewhere also happened because the Andhra Pradesh government has not yet said that it is willing to further hand over some of the office blocks in the Secretariat complex to Telangana, which has always wanted them in its possession before undertaking demolitions as it has planned earlier to pave way for a swank administrative centre.
The Shift could happen to other temporary accommodations
Moreover, the Official sources have said that the Telangana government has further proposed to begin shifting of departments to other temporary accommodations such as BRK Bhavan, Aranya Bhavan and other heads of department buildings in the first week of November and could also start demolition of the existing Secretariat buildings by the end of this month.
The AP government has now constituted a cabinet sub-committee to look into the issue of handing over buildings to Telangana. Some Telangana officials are of the opinion that the shifting can be also postponed for two weeks from when there is likely to be clarity on the court order and also AP government’s view on further handing over buildings.
“The chief minister will be taking a call in order to start the shifting of the Secretariat buildings in the light of the high court order and AP government’s decision to further appoint a sub-committee,” a senior official of General Administration Department said.
