During the Punjab bandh in Moga district’s Kot Ise Khan area, a shopkeeper named Gora shot Balwant Singh, a protester, after an argument. Balwant suffered a chest gunshot wound and was initially taken to a local Moga hospital. Due to the severity of his condition, he was later transferred to Ludhiana’s Dayanand Medical College and Hospital. The alleged incident took place when some protesters were appealing to shopkeepers to shut their stores in the district’s Kot Ise Khan area.

Shopkeeper Shoots Protester:

Gora, who operates a mobile phone shop, used his licensed revolver in the shooting. The conflict arose when protesters urged Gora to close his shop, leading to a heated dispute and Gora firing at Balwant. Law enforcement, including Deputy Superintendent Ravinder Singh and Senior Superintendent J Elanchezhian, intervened. A case of attempted murder was filed against Gora, prompting police raids to apprehend him. The incident escalated tensions in Kot Isse Khan, with protesters blocking the main chowk, while a statewide bandh was called by the Dalit and Christian communities due to ongoing ethnic violence in Manipur.
