Actresses who were in race for this role
Actress Niti Taylor aka Shivani’s track will soon end in Life OK’s Ghulaam. There were a lot of speculations about the new female lead. Names like Sanaya Irani, Puja Banerjee and Ekta Kaul were doing the rounds to replace Niti on the show. But, it is now confirmed that Mere Angne Mein’s Riya aka Ekta Kaul will be replacing Niti Taylor on the show.
Ekta talked about stepping into Niti’s shoes. “I’m not stepping into anybody’s shoes. I am playing the new lead, but my role is very different from Niti’s. She was playing a mild, docile girl who was easily suppressed. My role is that of a tough woman.” Ekta will not just play the role of a tough woman on screen, but is also trained in martial arts in real life. “I am trained in martial arts and I know everything about self-defense. I remember hitting an eve teaser in Chandigarh. When he tried to escape on his bicycle, I pushed him, lifted his cycle and threw it on him! So, if this role requires me to fight a male actor on screen, it will not be difficult for me,” said Ekta.
It would be interesting to see a tough woman replace the docile Shivani (Niti Taylor) in Ghulaam. Let’s see what changes will this new character bring in Berehampur.
