The agencies which are involved in the possession of the Aadhaar card number of an individual is not permitted to publish or post the information publicly.
Under the Aadhaar Act, the possession agencies will have to ensure that the security and confidentiality of the 12-digit resident identification number is safe.
According to the rules, the biometric information, which is collected by the authority, cannot be shared with any person for any reason. Any violation of the act, the culprit would be punishable.
The agencies, which are collecting the Aadhaar number, will also have to specify whether the submission of the 12 digit number of Aadhaar is mandatory or voluntary.
The regulations also sort to obtain the consent of an Aadhaar card holder for collection, storage and use of the same for any specified purposes.
