What is Holi? Holi is a Hindu festival which is celebrated all across the India with immense happiness and utmost joy. It is also known as the ‘festival of colours’ or the ‘festival of love’. Holi means victory of good over evil, starting of spring season and end of winters. Now the question is what all you can do this Holi? There are so many ways to celebrate Holi. There are lot of things to do and few are listed below.
Holika Bonfire: Collect woods and placed it in the middle of the street to burn it on the eve of Holi. Sing songs, dance and enjoy the Holika Bonfire.
Breaking the pot: This is the old and awesome tradition of breaking the pot which is filled with buttermilk. This pot is hanged in the middle of the street. It is said that Lord Krishna likes the buttermilk, and he used to steal it from every home. To hide it from him women used to hang the buttermilk high up in the streets.
Playing with colours: As we all know that Holi is the festival of colours, so you can buy or make colours. People celebrate the coming of spring and the end of winter by throwing colour powder and water on each other. Mostly people play with gulal, which is red-orange in colour made from the flowers of palash. There are many other colours available in the market like green, blue, purple etc.
Play with your loved ones: Play with your friends and family who are closed to you. It will make your bond stronger. Holi is the festival where nobody feels bad when you throw colours on them because everyone understands the significance of colours.
Sing and Dance: Enjoy the festival by singing and dancing. Let your body move on the beat. Sing and play Holi songs and celebrate the festival of love.
Eat and drink mouth-watering stuff: Holi is the festival when we Indians make lot of stuff to eat and drink like Gujjiya, namak-paare, bhang etc.
Visiting your friends and relatives home: You can go and celebrate Holi with a friend or family member’s home. At the end of the evening many people like visit to friends or family to enjoy the evening. Holi is the festival which brings many people together.
