Barack Obama thanked his wife and daughter in his farewell speech, here are the highlights
Today, finally Barack Obama delivered his emotional farewell speech. What is really appreciable is that emotional Barack Obama used his farewell speech to thank his wife Michelle for the sacrifices she made for his political dreams, calling her his “best friend” and a “role model” for the new generation.
We must say Barack Obama was not only a brilliant president he was a family man too. He said that “Michelle – for the past twenty-five years, you have been not only my wife and mother of my children, but my best friend.” He was emotional while thanking his wife. Obama said in front of thousands of his supporters with the First Lady sitting in the front row along with her youngest daughter Malia and her mother. Apart from this, The First Lady received standing ovation as Obama thanked her. And she deserves it!
Outgoing US President for his wife further added, “You took on a role you didn’t ask for and made it your own with grace and grit and style and good humour. You made the White House a place that belongs to everybody. And a new generation sets its sights higher because it has you as a role model. You have made me proud. You have made the country proud. “
Obama thanked his daughters too
This was not the end, after thanking his wife Michelle, Barack Obama extend his gratitude to his daughters Sasha and Malia. Obama said, “Malia and Sasha, under the strangest of circumstances, you have become two amazing young women, smart and beautiful, but more importantly, kind and thoughtful and full of passion, you wore the burden of years in the spotlight so easily. Of all that I’ve done in my life, I am most at proud to be your dad.” Younger daughter couldn’t stop her tears while Obama was speaking about her.
Barack Obama thanked Vice president Joe Biden
Apart from thanking his family, Obama went on to thank the Vice President Joe Biden. He said, “To Joe Biden, the scrappy kid from Scranton who became Delaware’s favourite son: you were the first choice I made as a nominee, and the best. Not just because you have been a great Vice President, but because in the bargain, I gained a brother.” At last he thanked his staff people for always coordinating him.
