Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina arrives India
Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina today arrived India for her four day visit. According to reports, she is expected to sign at least sign 25 bilateral agreements including in key areas of civil nuclear cooperation and defence.
Notably, she has come to India after seven years. Hasina will hold talks tomorrow with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in which India is all set to announce a line of credit of USD 500 million to Bangladesh for military supplies.
According to the joint statement issued by both the countries, “The upcoming visit will further expand the cordial and cooperative relationship between India and Bangladesh and will also build the strong friendship bond between both the countries.”
Notably, she will also meet President Pranab Mukherjee and opposition leader Sonia Gandhi. Sheikh Hasina will visit Ajmer on Sunday and she is expected to meet Indian Business leaders on Monday. She will also take part in a function at Manekshaw Centre to honor Indian Armed Forces members who embraced martyrdom in Bangladesh’s War of Liberation 1971.
Interestingly, this is Hasina’s first bilateral visit to India in her current term as Prime Minister. Defence and Security will be two important topics on which PM Modi and Sheikh Hasina will hold the talk.
Issues like combating terrorism, containing radicalism and enhancing security cooperation between both the nations will also be the prominent topics of discussion between both the leaders.
