BANGLA TIGERS SEAL THE DEAL
The Bangladesh team created history when they defeated Team India in the One Day International (ODI) bilateral series; for the first time ever! The three match series stands at Bangladesh 2- India 0, the final match to be held on 24th June, 14:30, IST onwards. It was a treat for the hosts to watch their team outplay a formidable Indian line up.
India’s tour of Bangladesh included only one test match that was played on Jun 10-14 where both the bowlers and batsmen on the Indian side showed impressive cricketing techniques to emerge victorious. Maybe it was the presumptuous attitude that led to the Indian side falling terribly at the hands of the Bangladesh team when the one dayers started.
The bilateral series began on 18th June at the Dhaka stadium. The hosts batted first and put up a huge 300+ total on the scoreboard. After having a good start, the Indian openers failed to capitalize on the chances they got due to some sloppy fielding by the hosts soon after which they recovered and ensured wickets kept falling in regular intervals and the hosts registered an easy 79 run victory. The star of the show was youngster Mustafizur Rahma whose five wicket haul stunned everyone.
The second ODI held on 21st June, was played at the historic ‘Sher-e-Bangla’ stadium in Mirpur. The Bangladesh team looked like they had just one aim when they entered to play; to snatch and seal the series from India in a classy show of top cricket.
The final ODI will be played on Wednesday this week and the Indian fans can just hope for a win however measly and insignificant it will be. We still hope the Indian shows some on field talent they are known for and plays for respect!
