Artist are less important than the art, says Shah Rukh Khan
Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who is usually referred as the romantic hero of the silver screen, believes that the art is more important than the artist.
“An artist is just like water he just adapts the colour and shape. I believe that the art is important, and the artist is not. The art remains forever however the artist does not and being an actor, I feel that if I think this way I can work with some amount of purity. The purity will be abstained if I believe that my art is important than myself,” Shah Rukh Khan said at the launch of a biographical book on him by Samar Khan.
Khan talks about his Career
“Surviving for 25 years in the film industry was a big dream for a boy who came from Delhi many years ago. These years have been full of hard work, excitement and various ups and downs and this book is a tribute to all film makers who believed in me and my dreams. I am delighted and thankful to all my fans, who have made me who I am today and would like to say thankyou to Royal stag mega music, Samar and everybody associated with this book,” Shah Rukh Khan added.
Recalling his initial days in Mumbai, he said, “I was an odd-looking guy, not from a film background, I spoke very fast but today I am thankful to all the filmmakers and my friends who gave me an opportunity. I have been trained by people like these to respect the newcomers and love them.”
King Khan also revealed that being a megastar, the choice of roles being offered to him get limited. “Sometimes it is awkward, today being in this position, the choices are very less. I meet many directors but it goes out of hand many a times. Despite spending 25 years in this industry, I still feel like a newcomer. I find it awkward that I have spent 25 years but I still feel like a newcomer.”
Titled “25 years of a Life”, the book captures interesting facts from Khan’s successful journey in the industry. 30 chapters in the book are all directors’ take on a specific character crated by them and portrayed by Shah Rukh Khan.
Samar Khan stated, “This book was the right chance for me to describe the Shah Rukh Khan story from a different lens. I would like to thank each one involved who helped making this dream project a reality.”
