RIP J. Jayalalithaa: Rajinikanth paid tribute to Amma
Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu J.Jayalalithaa famously known as ‘Amma’ is no more with us. She passed away at 68 late on Monday evening after failing to recover from a cardiac arrest that she suffered on Sunday. She was admitted to the Apollo Hospital, which initially denied the media reports of her passing away, but later on they confirmed the reports. The hospital announced that ‘Amma’ passed away at 11:30 pm. People have lost their Iron Lady. People have come on streets to express their grief. The entire film industry is expressing the grief on her death. Veteran actor, Rajinikanth paid tribute to Amma and called her India’s Brave Daughter.
AIADMK official Twitter handle posted that Jayalalithaa body was further taken to get residence at Poe’s Garden in an ambulance Heavy police force was present there. Amma’s body will be kept at Rajaji Hall for the public to pay their last respects. President Pranab Mukherjee, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and vice-president of Congress Rahul Gandhi also posted their deep grief on Amma’s death. They are all expected to arrive at Chennai today. Every politician from Sonia Gandhi to Arvind Kejriwal are expressing their condolence to the people of Tamil Nadu.
Not only the politicians but the entire filmdom has also expressed their grief on the death of J. Jayalalithaa. Veteran actor Rajnikanth paid her a rich tribute and called her India’s brave daughter.

Unknown facts abou0t ‘Amma’ that will give you some insight about her life
1. Politics was not a natural choice for her. She wanted to be a lawyer just like her dad. M.G. Ramachandran gave kick to her political career.
2. She may have been a star in Tamil Cinema but beautiful lady has also worked with the legend Dharmendra in Izzat as well. She had a strong crush on former Indian captain Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi and Shammi Kapoor.
3. She figures in the Guinness World Book of world records for hosting “largest wedding” for her adopted son. During his first tenure as CM in 1995, she organised a massive wedding for her adopted son Sudakaran. Budget of the wedding was 75 crore and 1, 50,000 guests were invited in the lavish wedding.
4. In 1997 ‘Amma’ took a pledge to not wear any jewellery. She stayed true to it for the next 14 years.
Amma and her controversial life
Popular actors Sobhan Babu and Jayalalithaa were offscreen love birds in the 70’s. During her movie career she fell in love with Sobhan Babu who was already married. She was caught watching him through binoculars from her residence. Her daughter name is Shobana. Amma was a skilled reader of English books and was a good author too. She has left behind a great legacy and she will be surely remembered.
