If Brazil is not amongst the favourites in any list then it validates that the writer has little knowledge about football. Brazil National Football Team known as Seleção Brasileira are renowned for their free-flowing, fast-paced style and are a delight to watch for neutrals. If Brazil plays like Brazil the other teams are surely going to run for cover with the men in yellow annihilating each one of them.

To no one’s surprise, most football pundits are backing the Albicelestes (sky blue and whites) to lay their hands on the cup. Argentina’s strength lies in their formidable attack and a sturdy midfield. If they win in Brazil they will generate anger among the natives causing extreme delight for their supporters. Lionel Messi would like to silence his remaining few critics who still manage to omit him from the list of Greats. Moreover, the other ten men would also have to pitch in if they want to lift the trophy.
Lionel Messi – This miraculous player, who has done so well for his club, has to perform to the best of his ability if Argentina are to reach the summit.
Angel DiMaria – The best wingers create goal scoring chances and this will precisely be his duty.
Sergio Agüero – The in-form Manchester City striker scored seventeen goals in the campaign last season, his country surely needs a similar performance from him.
Coach – Joachim Löw

Germans are the most unfailing team over the last three World Cups. It is the kind of team which plays with a lot of heart and fortitude. Their never say die attitude makes them a mighty force which the other teams need to beware of. Having reached two semi-finals and one final in the last three editions they will be eager to end their 24 year old draught. With a young and rejuvenating squad in the last edition the players have now matured and gained experience. There is much unity in the squad with seven players playing for one club (Bayern Munich). Germans are unquestionably the favourites from Europe. If Miroslav Klose manages to score two more goals he will create history and register himself as the highest goal scorer in World Cups.
Bastian Schweinsteiger – Backbone of this team, he is the connecting wire between the defenders and forwards. He plays the ball forward and falls back during an attack, quite the Mr. dependable.
Phillip Lahm – A formidable captain and a stalwart in defence he is. We all remember the first goal of the 2006 edition where he scored from outside the box. You never know what this dynamite may produce on his day.
Coach – Vicente del Bosque
Best Result – Champions – 2010
Legend – Andres Iniesta

The Spaniards will be targeting a unique feat by winning two Euro Cups and two World Cups consecutively. With their Tiki-taka style of play no other team has been able to keep possession against them. Spain is an ideal mix of experience and youthful talent. With most of the players playing in the La Liga, they are familiar with each other’s skills, which is an advantage they have over the other teams.
Iniesta – He scored the winning goal in the 2010 final and was also instrumental in their wins throughout the tournament. Falling amongst the experienced lot, he will surely have to execute the plans spanned out by del Bosque.
Coach – Louis van Gaal
Best Result – Finals (1974, 1978, 2010)
Legend – Johan Cruijff

The Dutch have an ill-fated history in the World Cups. In spite of reaching three finals they have never managed to make it past the line. But this time round the Oranje’s are determined to change the course of history. They have a strong and experienced squad, laden with ability to play quality football, striking football! They play with a lot of flair & resolve and on their day, can dominate the best of teams.
Arjen Robben – A player who instils fear in the hearts of his opponents. His telltale jittery changes in direction and coming in from the right to shoot with his left foot is his trademark.
Wesley Sneijder – A dead ball specialist and a winger, he has exceptional passing and dribbling skills.
The Dark Horses- Belgium
Coach – Marc Wilmots
Best Result – 4th (1986)
Legend – We might see one from this World Cup
Certainly the dark horses of this World Cup. The Belgian football team is filled with astounding individual talents who are playing for the biggest clubs in Europe. A strong defence in Vincent Kompany, a brute midfield in Fellaini and a lethal attack in Hazard and Lukaku, they are a team who can punch above their weight and give the best teams a run for their money. As neutrals, we hope they come out with all guns blazing and stun everyone.
