After Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi withdrew his plea in the Supreme Court seeking to quash the defamation case filed against him for holding the RSS responsible for Mahatma Gandhi’s assassination. AIR tweeted on its official page “Why he got scared earlier? How he became daring again to defame #RSS?”
But they deleted their tweet as well. Asking Rahul Gandhi to “stick to comments”, the tweet with the hashtag #RahulRattlesRSS was later deleted on the direction of the director general of news at AIR, Sitanshu Kar.
A following tweet on the handle said that it was deleted because it didn’t conform to the editorial standards of the national broadcaster.
Kar further added that they were taking stock of the situation before any action can be taken. There is an in-house team of four people in different parts of the country who tweet from AIR’s official Twitter handle.
