A Cracker of a Battle- It’s India vs South Africa
22nd February 2015 is the most awaited day for all Indian cricket fans, as India take on South Africa for the 4th time, in what is going to be a cracker of a match. India have played South Africa thrice in the World Cup before, 1992, 1996 and 2011. South Africa proved to be the better team in each of those encounters.
Match 13 of the World Cup to be played between these two teams at Melbourne would of a great intensity. Similar in intensity to the match played between India and Pakistan but of a different manner. In a match between India and Pakistan the intensity arises due to the cricket enveloped with emotions. On the other hand, when they face the Proteas, it is entirely a cricketing battle.
Both teams won their opening matches in the World Cup. India faced Pakistan and beat them comprehensively by 76 runs.

Whereas, South Africa faced Zimbabwe, a relatively easy opponent. They beat them by 62 runs. But, the win was not vey assuring. The start to their batting was very shaky as they lost their top four very early before Duminy And Miller came to their rescue. Even during their bowling, Zimbabwe managed to give them a minor scare when Taylor and Masakadza were cruising towards the target.
Barring that, the South African team looks nice and solid, with a fearsome bowling attack and an equally good batting line up.
Here is what De-Villiers, the South African skipper had to say on the eve of the match.
“Every game we play, we want to win. I can’t tell you now because I don’t know what’s going to happen the next four games we play. Maybe it’s a make or break for us, maybe not, but all I know is that we want to win the game. We’ve prepared in order for us to win this game, and we’re as ready as we can be. We’re just going to go out there and give it our best shot tomorrow.”
Would history repeat itself or will India be able to overcome the jinx ?We’ll know shortly.
