2017 Bihar topper Ganesh Kumar unable to answer basics of music!
Moderation policy of CBSE has already affected results of 12th class students. Its major impact could be seen in Bihar where only few students have passed their 12th successfully. In 2016, Ruby Rai who topped the Bihar in CBSE 12th exams was unable to answer the even basic questions. She said “prodigal science” is about cooking and this time too, Bihar’s class 12th topper in humanities stream struggled to explain the basics of music, one of his subjects.

Ganesh Kumar, who topped class 12th boards in humanities stream, was confused from the questions posed by media on music in which he scored 65 out of 70 in practical. In an interview with news portal, he said singer Lata Mangeshkar is known as Maithili Kokila, a title bestowed on folk singer Sharda Sinha, who is from Samastipur, where his school is situated.
He was having difficulty in explaining what is sur, taal, mantra which are considered basics of music. When he was asked what he did in music practicals, he unrhythmically sang a few lines of a Bollywood number.
The 24- year -old Kumar appeared for the board exams at Ramnandan Singh Jagdip High School in Samastipur’s Chhakhabib village and scored 82.6 percent. He has achieved 92 percent in Hindi, 82 percent in music and 42 percent in social science.

Kumar, who hails from Giridih in Jharkhand, said he had come to village in search of livelihood but people encouraged him to take admission in school.
State Education Minister Ashok Choudhary said that “The board chairman has himself said the evaluation process was carried out in a proper manner.The media is always looking to rake up something negative.”
